Pecan Tassies

These used to be one of my favorite Christmas treats when I was a child. My parents would get fresh pecans whenever we went to Tennessee to visit my grandparents, and my father's job would be to crack the pecans without breaking the nuts. These are similar to mini pecan pies. The best part about them is they're small!


3 oz cream cheese
1 cup flour
1 stick butter

Blend cream cheese and butter together, then add flour and mix well. Make 24 balls. Press into small muffin tins (or mini tart tins). Sprinkle chopped pecans into bottom of crust.


1½ cups light brown sugar
½ tsp vanilla
Pinch of salt
2 Tbs melted butter
2 eggs

Beat eggs slightly and add sugar, butter, salt, and vanilla. Mix well until sugar is dissolved. Put into crusts a spoonful at a time till ½ full. Sprinkle chopped pecans over top of filling (or place one full half pecan on top. Bake at 350° F for 30 minutes.
